Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 3:06 AM CST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 3 PM CST this
afternoon...

* locations... mainly northern Iron County... around Hurley...
Gurney... and Upson.

* Timing... expect snow to continue... diminishing this afternoon.

* Precipitation rates... the heaviest snowfall rates will occur
though late morning.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 6 inches.

* Winds / visibilities... winds gusting as high as 25 mph will
cause patchy blowing and drifting snow... especially in open
areas. In addition... some reductions to visibility are expected.

* Impacts... roadways may be snow covered and slippery.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake-
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous or
impossible. Lake-effect snow showers typically align themselves
in bands and will likely be intense enough to drop 1 to several
inches of snow per hour for several hours. Visibilities vary
greatly and can drop to zero within minutes. Travel is strongly
discouraged. Commerce could be severely impacted. If you must
travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
