A Blizzard Warning is in effect until late Wednesday evening for areas along and west of a line from Sheboygan...to West Bend...to Jefferson...to Janesville. A Winter Storm Warning in effect for the rest of southeast Wisconsin...including Walworth...Racine... Kenosha...Milwaukee...Waukesha...and Ozaukee counties. Light snow and flurries will gradually be replaced with heavier snow showers late this afternoon and evening. Moderate to heavy snow will spread into southern Wisconsin between 4 PM CST and 8 PM CST. At this time...it appears the Madison and Milwaukee Metro areas will begin to see heavier snow around 6 PM CST. New snow accumulation of 2 to 3 inches is expected in the Lake Shore counties before midnight. 3 to 5 inches is likely elsewhere in southern Wisconsin...with the highest totals before midnight southwest of Madison. In addition...look for winds to ramp up after 6 PM CST. Wind gusts this evening should commonly range between 20 and 30 mph...with some gusts approaching 40 mph near Lake Michigan. Use extreme caution while driving this evening...roads will become very hazardous. Travel tonight is not advised unless absolutely necessary.

* Timing: mainly light snow will continue through late afternoon... becoming heavy southwest to northeast this evening and into Wednesday morning. The snow will taper off to scattered snow showers and flurries by Wednesday evening. Strong winds will develop this evening and combine with falling and blowing snow to create blizzard conditions at times through Wednesday evening.
* Snow accumulations: 10 to 14 inches is expected by Wednesday afternoon most places... with locally higher amounts.
* Winds: east at 10 to 15 mph through late afternoon... increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph this evening and turning northeast overnight. The winds will turn northwest Wednesday morning and increase to 20 to 30 mph... with gusts to 40 mph... then become west and slowly diminish to 15 to 20 mph Wednesday evening and night.
* Impacts: travel conditions will deteriorate rapidly this evening and remain hazardous through Wednesday. Severe blowing and drifting snow will create whiteout conditions at times.
