Warnings and Notices
Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 3:44 PM CST on December 21, 2009
... Winter storm to impact Holiday travel across Wisconsin
and central United States...
A large winter storm is expected to produce at least several
inches of snow across the area between Wednesday night and
Saturday afternoon. Some rain... sleet... and freezing rain will be
mixed with the snow at times... especially over east-central
Wisconsin. This combination of precipitation will create hazardous
travel conditions just in time for the peak Holiday travel period.
The heaviest snows and worst travel conditions are likely to occur
west and southwest of the area... with the storm starting to
weaken as it pushes across Wisconsin. As a result... this storm is
not expected to be in the same class as the one which produced the
blizzard on December 8 and 9. Snowfall totals are not expected to
be as great. The snow will fall over a longer period of time... and
although it will be quite windy early in the storm... winds will
diminish by Friday night.
Although the storm wont be as severe as the one earlier in the
month... it will still have a major impact on travel. If you are
traveling or are expecting other people to travel to your home for
the Holiday... be sure to monitor the latest forecast for updated
information on the storm.
