Colder...snow. Snow accumulation around 1 inch. Storm total snow accumulation of 9 to 14 inches. Lows 15 to 20. East winds 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday
Cloudy with snow likely. Snow accumulation around 1 inch. Highs around 25. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Saturday.
* Timing... precipitation will be somewhat light through late afternoon with a mix of light sleet... freezing rain... and rain from Durand to Ladysmith and points east... with periods of light snow to these west of these areas. Moderate to heavy snow is expected to redevelop this evening and persist through Christmas day. The area of mixed precipitation will change to snow by late evening.
* Accumulations... significant amounts of snow will occur with more periods of heavy snow likely as the storm intensifies tonight into Friday. Snow amounts of two to five inches have been observed. Total snowfall accumulations by Saturday morning are highly likely exceed one foot in many areas... especially west of a Ladysmith to Eau Claire line... with scattered totals in excess of 16 inches probable towards the Minnesota border.
* Surface visibility will be reduced as the event continues due to increasing wind speeds and blowing snow... mainly in open rural areas.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
