Forest Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Special Statement
Statement as of 9:48 PM CDT on April 23, 2014

...Another round of wintry precipitation expected late tonight through Thursday evening...

A storm system heading east from the plains will push a large shield of precipitation across the area starting late tonight...and continuing Thursday and Thursday evening. North of Highway 8...which runs from north of Tomahawk...to Rhinelander...to Crandon...to Pembine...the precipitation is expected to be rain at some times...and snow at others. The heavier precipitation will tend to fall as snow. Some sleet is also possible at times.

Temperatures are expected to stay near or above freezing throughout the precipitation event. That should greatly reduce the potential for snow to accumulation on roadways...so widespread travel problems are not anticipated. A few inches of accumulation is possible on grassy surfaces however...especially near the Upper Michigan border.
