Statement as of 1:29 AM CDT on May 28, 2012

The National Weather Service in Duluth MN has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Burnett County in northwest Wisconsin...
east central Pine County in east central Minnesota...
northwestern Washburn County in northwest Wisconsin...
southern Douglas County in northwest Wisconsin...

* until 130 PM CDT Monday

* at 123 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the
warned area. The Duluth Doppler radar indicates that 2 to 4
inches of rain had fallen across much of the warning area.

* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur.
Some locations that will experience flooding include... Alpha...
Branstad... Chaffey... Cloverton... Cozy Corner... Dairyland...
Danbury... Falun... Four Corners... Gordon... Grantsburg... Hertel...
Kingsdale... Markville... Moose Junction... Riverside... Siren... Solon
Springs... Trade Lake... Trade River... Wascott... Webb Lake... Webster
and yellowlake.

After several days of heavy rainfall... the ground is already
saturated across the warned area. As a result... the rainfall from
Sunday evening and Monday morning will tend to runoff. Creeks...
streams and rivers are already swollen from heavy rain... and ditches
and culverts are full as well. More rain will move into the area
overnight... resulting in additional runoff. It can take some time
for water to start flooding... and the impact of the excess runoff
will likely take some time to be maximized.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Do
not enter the water. Turn around and move up to higher ground to
escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.

Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:02 PM CDT on May 27, 2012

The National Weather Service in Duluth MN has issued an

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Rapid River rises in...
southeastern Aitkin County in east central Minnesota...
Pine County in east central Minnesota...
this includes the city of Hinckley...
southern Carlton County in northeast Minnesota...
southwestern Burnett County in northwest Wisconsin...
west central Douglas County in northwest Wisconsin...

* until 300 am CDT Monday

* at 857 PM CDT... Duluth Doppler radar indicated numerous
thunderstorms producing heavy rain... moving slowly northeast
through much of eastern Pine County. Rainfall on the order
of 1 to 2 inches has been common... with localized rainfall
of more than 2 inches. Another large area of extremely heavy
rainfall will also move in from the south... with another
couple inches of rainfall possible. We will also continue to
monitor this area for possible flash flooding.

* The heavy rain will quickly inundate saturated ground from
recent rains... resulting in swollen creeks... rivers and
streams. Ditches and culverts will fill and possibly start
to affect roads. If you live in a flood prone area... start
making preparations in the event the event becomes even
more serious. Eastern Pine County... southeastern Carlton
County and far western Douglas County appear to be most
likely to see the flooding in the next few hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
