Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:38 AM PST on November 16, 2009
... Flood Watch in effect through Wednesday morning...
The National Weather Service in Seattle has expanded the
* Flood Watch to include a portion of western Washington...
including the following counties... Lewis... Thurston.
* Through Wednesday morning
* river models now indicate the Chehalis river could flood. The Flood
Watch area has been expanded to include Lewis and Thurston
counties... through which the Chehalis river runs.
* The Chehalis river and its tributaries could flood. Current River
models indicate minor flooding in Lewis County and possible
major flooding in Thurston and Grays Harbor counties. Any
flooding would begin late tonight. Flooding is not a sure thing
because most of the flooding rain is forecast to fall later
today and tonight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding but
flooding is not imminent or occurring. Monitor the latest
forecasts from the National Weather Service and be ready to act
quickly if flooding is observed or a warning is issued.
Wind Advisory
Statement as of 12:18 PM PST on November 16, 2009
... Wind Advisory in effect from 6 PM this evening to noon PST Tuesday... ... Wind Advisory has expired... The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to noon PST Tuesday. The Wind Advisory from this morning has expired. The high wind watch is no longer in effect. Another period of damaging winds is possible tonight through Tuesday morning as a deep surface low moves northeast across Vancouver Island. Widespread winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph are possible with this system. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely. Winds this strong can snap small tree branches... topple small or shallow-rooted trees... and cause local power outages.
