The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Chehalis river nr Doty
* until Tuesday afternoon.
* At 5:00 PM Monday the stage was 9.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage around 11 PM
Monday and crest near 15.1 feet around 2 am Tuesday. The river will
fall below flood stage Tuesday morning.
* Impact... at 13.0 feet... flood waters of the upper Chehalis and
South Fork Chehalis will inundate many roads and some residential
and commercial areas. Impacted roadways and surrounding areas
include Curtis Hill... Lake Creek... Moon Hill... Wildwood roads in
the boisfort valley and l abri Rd. And front St. Below Doty. A
stage of 13 feet on the Chehalis near Doty corresponds to just
below phase 2 in the Lewis County flood system.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive cars... vans... or trucks through flooded areas... this is
the cause of most flood related deaths in Washington. Be alert for
rapid changes and monitor developments by listening to NOAA Weather
Radio or other local media.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of western Washington... including the following
counties... Grays Harbor... Clallam... Jefferson... Skagit...
Whatcom... Lewis... Mason... Snohomish... Thurston.

* Through Wednesday morning

* heavy rain in the Olympics drove several rivers above flood
stage today. More rivers could flood tonight as heavy rain
continues. The Chehalis river and its tributaries could
experience minor flooding late tonight or Tuesday... but flooding
is not yet certain on most of the river.

* The Nooksack river in Whatcom County cloud also flood. If
flooding does develop on the Nooksack river it would most likely
occur Tuesday morning. The Skagit River in Skagit County and the
stillaguamish river in Snohomish County could also have minor
flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding but
flooding is not imminent or occurring. Monitor the latest
forecasts from the National Weather Service and be ready to act
quickly if flooding is observed or a warning is issued.

... High Wind Warning in effect until 1 am PST Tuesday...
... Wind Advisory now in effect from 1 am to noon PST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Wind
Warning... which is in effect until 1 am PST Tuesday. The Wind
Advisory is now in effect from 1 am to noon PST Tuesday.

This warning is meant for a small area around Lake Lawrence south
of Yelm... which is susceptible to high wind. Winds of 30 to 40 mph
with gusts to 60 mph are possible for several more hours tonight.
The rest of the southwest interior will have winds of 25 to 35 mph
with gusts to 50 mph.

After the warning ends... a Wind Advisory for widespread winds of
25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph remains in effect.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or
gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely. Winds this strong can snap
small tree branches... topple small or shallow-rooted trees... and
cause local power outages.

a record rainfall of 2.23 inch(es) was set at Quillayute WA Airport
today. This breaks the old record of 1.57 set in 1983.
