Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:38 AM PST on November 16, 2009
... Flood Watch in effect through Wednesday morning...
The National Weather Service in Seattle has expanded the
* Flood Watch to include a portion of western Washington...
including the following counties... Lewis... Thurston.
* Through Wednesday morning
* river models now indicate the Chehalis river could flood. The Flood
Watch area has been expanded to include Lewis and Thurston
counties... through which the Chehalis river runs.
* The Chehalis river and its tributaries could flood. Current River
models indicate minor flooding in Lewis County and possible
major flooding in Thurston and Grays Harbor counties. Any
flooding would begin late tonight. Flooding is not a sure thing
because most of the flooding rain is forecast to fall later
today and tonight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding but
flooding is not imminent or occurring. Monitor the latest
forecasts from the National Weather Service and be ready to act
quickly if flooding is observed or a warning is issued.
