Statement as of 3:18 PM PST on December 23, 2009 ... Air stagnation advisory in effect from 4 am Thursday to 4 PM PST Saturday below 3000 feet... The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued an air stagnation advisory below 3000 feet... which is in effect from 4 am Thursday to 4 PM PST Saturday. * Advisory: stable conditions and light winds will contribute to the potential for increasing pollution levels starting Thursday. Air stagnation may be a problem through at least Saturday. * Locations include: elevations in eastern Washington below 3000 feet and elevations in the northern and central Idaho Panhandle below 3000 feet. Precautionary/preparedness actions... An air stagnation advisory indicates that light winds and stable conditions are expected... and pollution has the potential to increase to dangerous levels. Persons with respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution.
