Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 2:54 PM PDT on July 29, 2015

... Red flag warning in effect until 10 PM PDT Friday for a dry and
unstable air mass above 2000 feet elevation in fire weather zones
652... 658... 659 and 661...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a red flag
warning... which is in effect until 10 PM PDT Friday.

* Affected area... fire weather zones 652... 658... 659 and 661. This
includes the Olympic Mountains and the Cascades west of the
crest. This warning is targeted to locations above 2000 feet
elevation.

* Haines... mid-level Haines 5-6... in combination with high-level
Haines 5. This indicates a very dry and somewhat unstable air
mass.

* Temperatures... around 15 degrees above normal for this time of
year.

* Humidity... falling below 25 percent each afternoon... with poor
nighttime humidity recovery.

* Impacts... outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A dry and unstable air
mass with warm temperatures can contribute to active fire
behavior. In western Washington... significant growth on existing
fires has historically taken place under such conditions.
