Statement as of 10:52 PM PST on November 12, 2009
... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM PST
Friday for the Olympics and Cascades above 2000 feet...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect until 7 PM
Friday.
Snow will develop above the 2000 foot level late tonight ahead of
a strong cold front. This front will sweep across the area Friday
morning... thus look for the steady snow to taper off to showers by
Friday afternoon. Total snowfall amounts of 6 to 11 inches are
likely above the 2000 foot level by late Friday... with localized
higher amounts in the Cascades.
The snow level will fall to between 500 and 1000 feet by late in
the day Friday but snowfall amounts below the 2000 foot level will
be much lighter. However some locations below the 2000 foot
level in the Cascades could receive up to 3 inches of snow during
the Friday afternoon and evening time frame.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Those planning travel in the Cascades on Friday should be
prepared for winter driving conditions. For the latest Road
conditions... call 511 or 800 695 Road... or visit the Washington
state Department of Transportation web site at www.Wsdot.WA.Gov.
