... Blowing dust advisory remains in effect from 9 am to 6 PM PDT
Saturday...
... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 am to 6 PM PDT
Saturday...

* visibilities... less than 1 mile at times. Locally less than one
half mile near freshly plowed fields.

* Winds... southwest to west 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... the very windy and dusty conditions are expected to
develop Saturday morning and persist into the early evening.

* Impacts... high profile vehicles traveling along Interstate
82... and Interstate 84 should be prepared for possible strong
cross winds. Motorists should be alert for rapidly changing
visibilities. Winds of these magnitudes may cause loose objects
to suddenly become airborne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

A blowing dust advisory means that blowing dust will restrict
visibilities. Travelers are urged to use caution.

The Oregon department of environmental quality and the Washington
state department of ecology continue the air quality alert until
further notice.

A smoke air quality alert has been issued. Wildfires burning in the
region combined with forecasted conditions will cause air quality to
reach unhealthy levels.

Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes... runny nose... aggravate
heart and lung diseases... and aggravate other serious health
problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if
it is smoky. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or
lung condition.

In addition a cold front will pass through the Pacific northwest
Saturday... creating windy conditions. Although air quality issues
due to smoke may improve briefly... the windy conditions will also
produce areas of blowing dust that will continue to aggravate the
unhealthy air quality through the weekend.

Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 1:49 PM PDT on August 28, 2015

... Red flag warning in effect from 7 am to 7 PM PDT Saturday for
gusty winds for fire weather zones 640... 641... 642... 643... 644...
645 and 675...

The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a red flag
warning... which is in effect from 7 am to 7 PM PDT Saturday.

* Timing... winds will increase rapidly Saturday morning. Strongest
winds will be late morning into the afternoon.

* Wind... southwest to west 20 to 30 mph with some locations 25 to
40 mph.

* Humidity... 20 to 35 percent.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Existing fires will likely experience significant growth. Outdoor
burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... warm temperatures and very dry fuels can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
