The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow across central and eastern Vermont... which is in effect from 4 am to 10 PM EST Wednesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
* Snowfall totals of 5 to 9 inches are expected across central and eastern Vermont. The highest totals are expected to be along the eastern slopes of the Green Mountains from Ludlow to Northfield to Walden.
* Gusty winds will accompany the wintry precipitation at times during the day Wednesday... with locally stronger winds across the higher elevations.
* Snow will develop rapidly during the pre-dawn hours Wednesday... and become heavy at times by mid-morning. The snow is expected to mix with sleet... freezing rain and rain during the afternoon before ending in the evening. The most significant impacts from this storm will be felt Wednesday morning and into the early afternoon hours... with snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour... accompanied by low visibility and gusty winds.
