Wednesday
Snow in the morning...then snow or rain or freezing rain and sleet in the afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times in the morning. Snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 6 inches. Windy with highs in the mid 30s. Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph. Gusts up to 50 mph... increasing to 60 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.
A chance of snow showers. Rain showers...freezing rain and sleet until midnight...then a chance of rain showers after midnight. Breezy with lows in the mid 20s. Southeast winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 60 mph...becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.

Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow showers. Breezy with highs around 30. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

The National Weather Service in Burlington continues the Winter Weather Advisory for mixed precipitation across the Champlain Valley... from 4 am to 10 PM EST Wednesday.
* A total of 3 to 6 inches of snow and sleet is expected to fall across the Champlain Valley on Wednesday.
* Gusty winds may accompany the precipitation at times during the day... especially close to the Green Mountains.
* Snow will develop rapidly during the pre-dawn hours Wednesday... and become heavy at times by mid-morning. Snow will mix with sleet and rain during the afternoon before ending as rain in the evening. The most significant impacts from this storm will be felt Wednesday morning... including during the morning commute... with snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour... accompanied by low visibility and gusty winds.
Precautionary/preparedness actions... a Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and sleet will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.

... High Wind Warning in effect from 7 am to 7 PM EST Wednesday...
The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a High Wind Warning for The Spine and western slopes of the Green Mountains... which is in effect from 7 am to 7 PM EST Wednesday. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.
* Strong and potentially damaging wind gusts will increase steadily Wednesday morning... reaching peak intensity during the afternoon. Wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph are expected.
* Wind gusts of this strength can cause damage to trees and power lines... and can loft loose outdoor objects. The possibility exists for scattered power outages for communities along the western slopes of the Green Mountains by Wednesday afternoon. Driving high profile vehicles will also be difficult.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
