Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 10:56 AM EST on January 26, 2015

...Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 am EST Wednesday...

* locations...eastern Catskills...Mid Hudson valley...Taconics... Berkshires...and southern Vermont.

* Hazard types...heavy snow.

* Snow accumulations...10 to 18 inches...with up to 24 inches across the southern Berkshires and southern Taconics.

* Maximum snowfall rates...2 to 3 inches per hour.

* Timing...snow will overspread the region from southwest to northeast by late today...and will continue heavy at times tonight into Tuesday...before gradually tapering off late Tuesday night.

* Impacts...very dangerous travel conditions due to snow covered roadways and low visibility. Some blowing snow and drifting snow will also be likely...mainly in outlying areas. Some roads may become impassable.

* Winds...north 10 to 15 mph...increasing to 15 to 20 mph tonight into Tuesday...with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures...10 to 20 degrees.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.
