Statement as of 12:44 PM EST on November 14, 2009
... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until noon EST
Sunday...
A coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until noon EST Sunday.
Tidal anomalies will continue to trend down later today... but
minor flooding will still be possible around the time of high
tide this evening and again Sunday morning.
High tides this morning have occurred... with water levels
referenced to mean lower low water reaching near 5.56 feet at
Sewells Point resulting in minor flooding and 5.82 feet at the
Chesapeake Bay bridge Tunnel and 6.06 feet at Duck North
Carolina... both resulting in moderate flooding.
The next high tide cycles occur at 523 PM at Duck North
Carolina... 621 PM at the Chesapeake Bay bridge Tunnel and 709 PM
EST at Sewells Point. Water levels referenced to mean lower low
water... are expected to peak between 5 to 5.6 feet at Duck North
Carolina... 4.5 to 5.0 feet at Sewells Point and 4.4 to 5.0 feet
at the Chesapeake Bay bridge Tunnel. These values result in minor
flooding at all locations.
Minor flooding will still be possible around the time of high
tide again Sunday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
