... High surf advisory in effect until 10 am EST this morning... ... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 am EST this morning...
The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a high surf advisory... which is in effect until 10 am EST this morning. A coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 am EST this morning.
Strong north to northeast flow will continue to weaken today... but tidal anomalies will be slow to diminish... keeping the threat for moderate flooding for this morning's high tide cycle.
This morning's high tide cycles occur before 7 am EST... with water levels staying up through the mid morning hours. Water levels referenced to mean lower low water... are expected to peak around 4.4 to 4.8 feet at Ocean City Inlet... 6.0 to 7.0 feet at Wachapreague... and 5.3 to 5.8 feet at Kiptopeke. These values result in moderate flooding at Ocean City and Wachapreague... and moderate to severe flooding at Kiptopeke. Tidal anomalies will continue to trend down later today... but minor flooding will still be possible around the time of high tide this evening and again early Sunday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
