A coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 6 PM EST Friday.
The approaching new phase of the moon... in tandem with the strong
onshore flow... will lead to increasing tidal anomalies today
through Friday afternoon. The greatest threat for moderate to
severe flooding can be expected during the high tide cycle this
morning through Friday afternoon... as anomalies reach 2 to 3 feet
above normal over the northern areas... and 3 to 4 feet above
normal for Gloucester and Matthews.
The high tide cycles this morning saw water levels referenced to
mean lower low water... reaching 4 feet at Windmill Point... 5.5 feet
at Gloucester... and 3.6 feet at Lewisetta. These values represent
moderate to severe flooding.
The high tide cycles this evening will occur at 537 PM EST at
Gloucester... 723 PM EST at Windmill Point... and at 1023 PM EST at
Lewisetta. Water levels referenced to mean lower low water... are
expected to reach 5 to 5.5 feet at Gloucester... 3.5 to 4 feet at
Windmill Point... and 3.5 to 4 feet at Lewisetta... resulting in
moderate to severe flooding. Friday morning's high tides are
expected between 730 and 1030 am EST... with moderate to severe
flooding once again expected.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or
imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert
for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life
and property.

southeastern Gloucester County in eastern Virginia...
this includes the city of Gloucester Point...
north Central City of Newport News in southeast Virginia...
southeastern city of Williamsburg in southeast Virginia...
southeastern James City County in southeast Virginia...
York County in southeast Virginia...
this includes the cities of... Seaford... Queens Lake... and
Yorktown

* at 1145 am EST... continues to show moderate to heavy rain over the
area. An estimated 3 to 5 inches has already fallen. This will
caused widespread flooding of some creeks... small streams... low
lying and flood prone areas.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are possible in the
warned area.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
