Precipitation so far this month at Roanoke Virginia totaled 7.34 inches... which sets a record for December rainfall. The prior record was 7.10 inches set in 1948. The period of record is 1912 to 2009. Precipitation so far this month at Blacksburg Virginia totaled 6.46 inches... which sets a record for December rainfall. The prior record was 6.03 inches set in 1973. The period of record is 1952 to 2009. Addition precipitation may occur before the month ends... adding to these record setting values. |

Roof damage to the local tractor supply building 12/25/2009 0915 am Tazewell, Tazewell County. Non-thunderstorm wind damage, reported by Emergency Mngr. Trees and power lines were reported down in Tazewell and Baptist Valley areas. Wind gusts estimated at over 50 mph. 12/25/2009 0745 am Tazewell, Tazewell County. Non-thunderstorm wind damage, reported by law enforcement. Trees down countywide. Fallen trees have pulled down some power lines |
