Statement as of 3:21 PM EST on December 24, 2009 ... Freezing Rain Advisory remains in effect from midnight tonight to noon EST Friday... ... Winter Storm Watch is cancelled... The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has cancelled the Winter Storm Watch. A Freezing Rain Advisory remains in effect from midnight tonight to noon EST Friday. * Light freezing rain is expected to begin late tonight... and then continue into Friday morning. * Between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of icing is expected... with the heavier amounts along and on either side of the Blue Ridge... and on other eastern facing slopes. * Road temperatures may be cold enough to become icy... especially bridges and overpasses. Precautionary/preparedness actions... This Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. |
