A cluster of showers and thunderstorms across Fauquier County will track east...reaching the western suburbs of Washington DC from Rockville to Woodbridge by 6pm. Brief gusty winds to 30 mph and very heavy rain will be possible with the stronger storms. Locally... a quick half inch to one inch of rain will be possible... but most rainfall tallies will be a quarter inch or less.

... Strong thunderstorms to affect Fauquier... Loudoun and Prince
William counties...
At 426 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm 2 miles
southeast of Rectortown... moving southeast at 25 mph.
Locations that will likely be affected by this storm include the
plains and Haymarket.
Wind gusts of 40 mph and small hail can be expected with this storm.
Heavy downpours may reduce visibility below a mile and cause ponding
of water on roadways.
