Wind Advisory
Statement as of 3:26 PM EST on November 11, 2009
... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 am EST Friday...
A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 am EST Friday.
The combination of strong high pressure over the Great Lakes and northern New England... and low pressure moving northeast along the Carolina coast will result in strong and gusty northeast winds tonight into the day on Friday. These winds from the Maryland beaches south across the Virginia Eastern Shore and Hampton Roads to the northern Outer Banks will average 25 to 35 mph with higher gusts... beginning tonight... and continuing into Friday morning. These winds will gradually weaken Friday afternoon into Saturday as the high pressure system moves northeast into the northern Atlantic... and the area of low pressure moves east... out to sea.
Gusty winds may bring down tree limbs... and also result in scattered power outages.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
