... Winter Storm Warning in effect from midnight tonight to 7 PM
EST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for sleet and snow... which is in effect from
midnight tonight to 7 PM EST Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is
no longer in effect.

* Locations... mountains of Greenbrier County... east into the
Alleghany Highlands... and the southern Shenandoah Valley.

* Hazard types... sleet and snow.

* Accumulations... snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 6
inches... with locally higher amounts... especially along the
higher ridges.

* Timing... rain will change to sleet around midnight Thursday...
then change to mainly snow after sunrise Thursday.

* Impacts... snow and sleet will cover the roads leading to
hazardous travel conditions.

* Winds... northwest 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... in the upper 20s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food...
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

... Areas of fog and rain expected into this afternoon...

Areas of fog will continue into this afternoon across the region.
Visibilities can drop below a mile at times in dense fog... especially
along Interstate 81 and Interstate 77. Rain will continue across
the region. Ponding of water is possible in poor drainage and low
lying areas.

Proceed with extra caution if traveling today. Use low beam
headlights... slow down and allow extra time to reach your
destination.
