Coastal Flood Warning
Statement as of 11:31 AM EST on November 14, 2009
... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EST this
afternoon...
A coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EST this
afternoon.
This mornings high tide cycles have or are approaching high
tide... with water levels referenced to mean lower low water
reaching near 4.7 feet at Gloucester... and 3.5 feet at Windmill
Point and Lewisetta. These values will result in moderate
flooding.
This next high tide will occur at 719 PM at Gloucester... at
Windmill Point and 541 PM at Lewisetta. Water levels referenced to
mean lower low water are expected to be from 4.5 to 4.9 feet at
Gloucester... and 3.0 to 3.4 feet at Windmill Point and 3.4 to 3.9
feet at Lewisetta. These levels will result in minor to near
moderate flooding.
Tidal anomalies will continue to trend down later this
afternoon... but minor flooding will still be possible around the
time of high tide later this evening and again Sunday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or
imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert
for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life
and property.
