At 310 PM EDT...National Weather Service radar indicated the leading edge of a broken line of showers and thunderstorms approaching the Blue Ridge from the west...or roughly along a line from Hagerstown...to Luray...to Charlottesville. Behind this line...scattered showers and thunderstorms were developing further west across the Potomac Highlands and Shenandoah Valley. Movement of all the activity is to the east at 20 mph. Through 430 PM EDT...showers and thunderstorms will affect areas including those in and near Cumberland...Keyser...Moorefield... Franklin...Martinsburg...Monterey...Staunton...Harrisonburg... Winchester...and Leesburg. Occasional cloud to ground lightning is occurring which these thunderstorms. In addition...wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph can be expected with this activity. Heavy downpours may reduce visibility below a mile and cause ponding of water on roadways. If you are in the path of these thunderstorms...move indoors to protect yourself from lightning. Do not seek shelter under trees. They can be struck and carry the charge to you.

... Strong thunderstorms to affect Greene and Albemarle counties...
At 324 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated a scattered line of strong
thunderstorms from White Hall to Alberene... moving northeast at
15 mph.
Locations that will likely be affected by these storms include Free
Union and Charlottesville.
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and small hail can be expected with this
storm.
Heavy downpours may reduce visibility below a mile and cause ponding
of water on roadways.
