The Flood Watch is now in effect for
* portions of central Virginia... east central Virginia...
interior southeast Virginia... south central Virginia... the
middle peninsula of Virginia... the peninsula of southeast
Virginia and the Piedmont of central Virginia... including the
following areas... in central Virginia... Prince George. In east
central Virginia... Charles City. In interior southeast
Virginia... Greensville... Surry and Sussex. In south central
Virginia... Brunswick... Dinwiddie... Lunenburg... Mecklenburg and
Nottoway. In the middle peninsula of Virginia... Gloucester and
Mathews. In the peninsula of southeast Virginia... James City.
In the Piedmont of central Virginia... Prince Edward.
* Through Thursday afternoon
* periods of heavy rain are expected beginning today... and lasting
into Thursday evening. Total rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches
are anticipated through 600 PM Thursday evening... with locally
higher amounts possible.
* Periods of heavy rainfall may cause flooding of creeks and small
streams Wednesday through Thursday. In addition... river levels
are expected to rise significantly... with minor river flooding
possible late in the week. Additionally... flooding may occur in
poor drainage areas.
