Statement as of 3:22 AM EST on December 22, 2009 ... Icy patches again this morning... Temperatures rose above freezing across much of the mid Atlantic region on Monday... causing some of the snow from this past weekends storm to melt. Temperatures will drop into the 20s across the area early this morning. This will allow water from snow melt and slush to re-freeze... forming patches of ice. Any roadways... bridges and overpasses... and sidewalks that have not been treated may become very slippery early this morning. Please use extra caution and be aware of the potential to encounter patches of ice early this morning. Be especially cautious of black ice... which is particularly hard to detect. The re-freezing of snow melt and slush during the nighttime is expected to continue through mid week as overnight temperatures will fall into the teens and twenties through Wednesday night. |
