The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory... which is in effect until 7 am EST Friday.
Low pressure off the mid-Atlantic coast will continue to spread precipitation across central Virginia tonight into early Friday. Temperatures near freezing will result in areas of freezing rain for elevations above 2500 feet. Only a couple hundredths of an inch of ice accumulation is expected. Across the valleys... temperatures will remain well above freezing allowing precipitation to fall in the form of rain.
A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
