The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has expanded the
* Flood Watch to include portions of central Virginia... south
central Virginia and southwest Virginia... including the
following areas... in central Virginia... Amherst... Appomattox...
Buckingham and Campbell. In south central Virginia... Bedford.
In southwest Virginia... Bland... Smyth... Tazewell and Wythe.
* Through late tonight
* periods of moderate to heavy rain are expected today and
tonight. Total rainfall amounts of 3.0 to 4.0 inches by 600 am
Thursday morning are forecast.
* Heavy rainfall will cause flooding of creeks and small
streams... possibly beginning this afternoon. If widespread
rainfall of over 3 inches does occur... then flooding of main
Stem rivers is also likely from later today through
Thursday. The rivers most likely to be affected would be the
new... Yadkin and Dan rivers.
