Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 10:54 PM EST on March 05, 2015

... A Flood Warning for rain and snowmelt remains in effect until 115
PM EST Friday for wise... Russell counties and the city of Norton...

At 1052 PM EST... local law enforcement continued to report flooding
along/near area streams and rivers. Numerous roadways remain
flooded across the area. Snow melt and recent heavy rains have
resulted in flooding. Additional flooding problems are possible.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Norton... Lebanon... wise... Big Stone Gap... Cleveland... Coeburn...
Appalachia... Honaker... pound... St. Paul... Hansonville... Pardee...
dye... Castlewood... Collingwood and Rosedale.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.
