... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 1045 am EST Thursday for
urban areas and small streams in the city of Bedford... the city of
Danville... the city of Lynchburg... the city of Martinsville...

Stokes and Rockingham counties...

At 446 PM EST rainfall averaging two to three inches had already
fallen across the warned area since yesterday. There have been some
reports of minor flooding on low lying areas... and some smaller
creeks out of their banks. An additional one to two inches of rain
is expected overnight. This additional rainfall will likely cause
most small creeks and streams to leave their banks... and aggravate
any minor flooding already occurring.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

* periods of moderate to heavy rain are expected to continue
through tonight and into the day Thursday. Total additional
rainfall amounts overnight and Thursday of 2.0 to 3.0 inches are
expected.

* The prolonged moderate to heavy rainfall will cause flooding of
creeks and small streams. Flooding of main Stem rivers is also
expected beginning late tonight or during the day Thursday. See

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 am EST Thursday.

Expect north to northeast wind at 15 to 30 mph... with gusts up to
45 mph possible. Because of the wet soil conditions... these winds
will likely be strong enough to down some trees.
