... Flood Watch remains in effect until midnight EDT tonight...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia... including
the following areas... in North Carolina... Alleghany NC...
Ashe... Surry... Watauga... Wilkes and Yadkin. In southwest
Virginia... Carroll... Floyd... Grayson... Montgomery... Patrick...
Pulaski... Smyth and Wythe.

* Until midnight EDT tonight

* two to three inches of rain... with locally higher amounts along
eastern slopes.

* Flooding of small creeks and streams is possible where the
heaviest rain falls. Inundation of flood prone or low lying
areas... and low water crossings is also likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.
