Statement as of 2:29 PM MDT on July 06, 2009 ... Red flag warning in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Tuesday for strong winds and low humidity for zones 434... 435... 437... 439 and 440... The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a red flag warning... which is in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Tuesday for strong winds and low relative humidity for fire weather zones 434... 435... 437... 439 and 440. Winds will increase tomorrow afternoon ahead of a storm system that will brush extreme northwest Utah on Wednesday. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph can be expected across much of the warning area. In addition to the winds... relative humidities will be below 15 percent. The combination of strong winds and low relative humidities will result in severe fire weather conditions where fuels are critically dry. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now... or will shortly.
