... Strong storms possible this afternoon and evening...
A disturbance will pass over northern Utah today supporting the development of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Southern sections of the state can expected to see more isolated activity. Conditions are favorable for some of these storms to become strong or severe with the risk of cloud to ground lightning... locally damaging wind gusts... large hail and heavy rainfall. The most likely time for the strongest storms is between 4 PM and 8 PM... though a few storms will likely impact late evening activities. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible across southern Utah and caution is urged in normally flood prone slot canyons and dry washes this afternoon.
Those planning to spend time outdoors today should keep an eye to the sky. Seek shelter if threatening weather approaches. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for updates to the forecast and for potential warnings.
