Statement as of 5:16 AM MDT on October 11, 2008 ... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 am this morning to 6 PM MDT Sunday... The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 9 am this morning to 6 PM MDT Sunday. This advisory is for the valleys of western Utah from the Idaho border south to Cedar City and the Sanpete and Sevier valleys. Snowfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are expected by Sunday afternoon. Although snow amounts may not be exceptionally heavy... the wet snow falling on trees that have yet to lose their leaves may result in tree damage and localized power outages. Snow or rain is expected to spread into the western valleys this morning then change over to all snow before noon. The snow will continue... possibly heavy at times..into the day on Sunday then diminish by late in the day. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving. For more information from NOAA/S National Weather Service visit... http://weather.Gov/saltlakecity (all lower case)
