Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 11:50 AM MDT on July 09, 2009
... Red flag warning remains in effect until 10 PM MDT this
evening for southwest winds and low humidity across southwestern
Utah. This warning includes fire weather zones 435 437 439 and
440...
The National Weather Service has continued the red flag warning
which remains in effect until 10 PM MDT this evening. This warning
is for southwest winds and low humidity across southwestern Utah
and includes fire weather zones 435 437 439 and 440.
Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph... with gusts in excess of
30 mph... are developing across southern Utah this afternoon. These
winds... combined with a very dry airmass... will once again result
in critical fire weather conditions across southern Utah this
afternoon. These winds are expected to diminish around or shortly
after sunset.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidities... and warm temperatures
will create explosive fire growth potential.
