Heat Advisory
Statement as of 6:51 PM CDT on July 09, 2009
... Heat advisory in effect until 7 PM CDT Friday...
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect until 7 PM CDT Friday.
Upper level high pressure will continue to strengthen over the
region... with another very hot day expected Friday. High
temperatures will range between 99 and 105 degrees over north
central Texas. These temperatures combined with the humidity will
cause afternoon heat index values to reach 105 to 110 degrees. In
addition to these hot day time temperatures... overnight lows will
struggle to cool into the upper 70s in most locations... providing
little relief from the heat.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
hot weather when the inside of vehicles can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Persons involved in vigorous outdoor activities are urged to take
frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Wear loose fitting and
light-colored clothing. Be sure to check on persons with health
problems and the elderly... as they are the most susceptible to
heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
