... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Saturday...
The National Weather Service in Shreveport continues a heat
advisory... which is in effect until 7 PM CDT Saturday.
This heat advisory is in effect for northeast Texas... northwest
and north central Louisiana... southwest Arkansas... and southeast
Oklahoma.
High pressure aloft will remain in place across the region
through Saturday. This will allow afternoon high temperatures to
range from the upper 90s to lower 100s. These temperatures... combined
with the humidity... will allow heat index values to range from 105
to 110 degrees across the four state region.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A heat advisory means that combination of hot temperatures and high
humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Suggestions on staying hydrated include drinking plenty
of non alcoholic... non carbonated fluids... and staying in an air-
conditioned room. If using fans... open windows to allow for fresh
air circulation. Stay out of the sun as much as you can... and
check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not Forget the pets... as
they need plenty of water and shade as well.
