Now
a Tornado Watch remains in effect for Dallam...Hartley...Oldham... and Deaf Smith of the Texas Panhandle and Cimarron County in the Oklahoma Panhandle... Areas of showers and thunderstorms will continue to move across portions of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles late this evening. This activity was mainly along and west of a Beaver to Perryton to Boys Ranch to Adrian line. The strongest storms were located across Dallam County in the northwestern Texas Panhandle. These storms were moving northeast at 30 mph and will continue to overspread the northern and western portions of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles rest of the evening. Rain amounts have been generally under one half inch per hour. The heaviest storms in western Hartley County have left over an inch of rain. Tropical moisture from the Pacific is being pulled over the area as very strong southwesterly flow continues. A disturbance to the west will approach and maintain the moist flow throughout the night. The chances for additional rainfall will remain high. Some of these storms can produce heavy rain. Persons traveling across the panhandles this evening should be wary of ponded water on roadways. Flooded low spots can be especially dangerous after dark. There will be some threat for severe thunderstorms...however the biggest threat from these storms will be heavy rain.
