... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...
The combination of the hot afternoon temperatures and the higher relative humidity will bring another round of noon through 7 PM heat indices of 99 to 113 across the region. As the seabreeze moves inland this afternoon it will bring more moisture making it feel even hotter though the actual temperature may drop a degree or two. If you will be outside this afternoon and evening make sure to drink plenty of water this morning before going outside and continue to drink cool water while outside.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
If you plan to be outside... avoid prolonged exposure or strenuous physical activity. Your body can lose up to a gallon of water an hour through perspiration. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Alcoholic and caffeinated beverages can increase the rate of water loss in your body... increasing the risk of heat exhaustion or stroke. Wear lightweight... light-colored... loose- fitting clothing. Wear a hat to shield yourself from the sun... and use a sunscreen to reduce possible sunburn.
