Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, February 13, 2012.

The trough of low pressure that brought unsettled weather to the West on Sunday will advance into the Plains on Monday with more mixed precipitation. The trough will support a low and associated warm front moving eastward into the Southern Plains. As the system progresses, rain showers with periods of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms will spread from parts of central/eastern Texas into western Louisiana, mixed precipitation will develop in parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas, and snow will blanket parts of the Central Plains, Mid-Mississippi Valley, and parts of the western Ohio Valley. Areas from eastern Texas through Arkansas should expect the heaviest precipitation totals. Heightened winter weather conditions will allow Winter Weather Advisories and a few Winter Storm Warnings to remain in effect through the day. Elsewhere east of the Continental Divide, lake-effect snow showers will continue along parts of the Lower Great Lakes Snowbelt.

In the West, a Pacific cold front pushing across the Pacific Northwest will drop southward across northern California, bringing coastal and valley rain and significant snowfall to the Sierra Nevadas.

Nowcast as of 2:28 am CST on February 13, 2012
A mix of rain and snow continues across North Texas tonight. Some sleet has also been reported...but the sleet remains isolated in nature. Most of the rain/snow mix is occurring north of a line from Stephenville to Dallas to Sulphur Springs. South of this line...all rain was being reported. Little snow accumulations may continue to occur generally north of a line from Decatur to Sulphur Springs through daybreak. However...most of this snow is expected to melt as the rain/snow mix transitions to all rain before daybreak. Otherwise...rainfall totals will be minimal with most locations receiving only a few hundredths through daybreak. Temperatures across the region ranged from 32 degrees to the lower 40s. Temperatures will continue to warm through the overnight hours and thus only very minor impacts from any winter precipitation is expected. Light icing was reported on a few rural roads near the Red River and motorists are still urged to use caution through the morning hours.
Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 9 am CST Monday...
