... Winter storm to move into southern New Mexico and far West
Texas Tuesday night and Wednesday...

An upper low will drop down to Arizona Tuesday afternoon and then
into south central New Mexico Wednesday morning. This system will
develop rain showers north and west of Deming Tuesday
afternoon... with the showers spreading east through Wednesday
morning. The showers will turn to snow across the Gila region late
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as the snow level falls to
around 5000 feet. Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches is possible
over the Gila Mountains where a Winter Storm Watch has been issued.
The Sacramento Mountains could also see snow accumulations of 3 to 6
inches by Wednesday evening. By late Wednesday morning and into the
afternoon the rain could become mixed with snow across the lower
elevations though littler or no accumulations are expected.
However... the Southern Mountain passes such as trans mountain and
San Augustine could still see a couple of inches of snow. In
addition to the precipitation... west winds will be increasing across
the region to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 45 mph. These strong
winds combined with snow in the higher elevations could cause some
hazardous travel conditions during the day Wednesday.

The precipitation should end all areas by early Wednesday
afternoon... except over the Sacramento Mountains and Hudspeth
County... where a few showers could linger into the evening hours.
