A freeze watch remains in effect from Friday evening through
Saturday morning.

A cold polar airmass will build into south Texas through Friday.
Skies are expected to clear from northwest to southeast Friday
evening as an upper level disturbance moves east into southeast
Texas and the polar high settles directly across south Texas.
This will allow temperatures to drop rapidly Friday night with
freezing temperatures developing across some inland areas Friday
evening. Low temperatures Saturday morning are forecast to reach
the mid 20s across with a hard freeze occurring across much of
the inland areas. This includes areas northwest of a Port Lavaca to
Refugio to Kingsville line. The barrier island is expected to
remain just above freezing... however the freeze line is now
expected to push right up to the bays across much of the coastal
Bend and middle Texas coast.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A freeze watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible.
These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
Residents should take precautions to protect pets... livestock...
sensitive plants and exposed pipes.

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 am to 6 PM CST
Friday...

The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a
Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in
effect from 6 am to 6 PM CST Friday for Live
Oak... Bee... Goliad... Victoria... Refugio and Calhoun counties.

A surge of very cold air is expected to move across south Texas
early Friday with temperatures dropping through Friday afternoon
into the mid 30s across the northern coastal Bend and Victoria
Crossroads. A potent upper level disturbance will move across
south Texas and combine with abundant moisture to produce rain in
the morning. As the atmosphere continues to cool through the
afternoon... the rain is expected to mix with light snow or change
over to all snow. However... most of the snow is not expected to
stick to the ground. The best chance of light snow accumulation is
expected to be mainly across Live Oak to
Bee... Goliad... Refugio... Victoria and Calhoun counties... with snow
amounts less than one inch. Elsewhere... snow accumulation is not
expected.

Snow may accumulate on some roads... bridges and overpasses over
portions of these counties and make travel hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will
cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and
limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.

updates on this winter weather event.

... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Guadalupe River near Bloomington.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:00 PM Thursday the stage was 21.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 24.4 feet by
early Sunday morning then begin falling.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 24.2 feet
on Oct 30 2009.

* At 24.0 feet moderate lowland flooding occurs... with the river
reaching well into the flood plain. Any oil tank batteries... pump
jacks... and secondary roads near the river may be flooded.

chill values in the mid to upper 20s are expected during the day
Friday across most of south Texas.

Areas of light to moderate rain will develop over south Texas
early Friday morning as an upper disturbance moves into the region
from the northwest. The airmass is expected to become sufficiently
cold enough through a deep layer of the atmosphere by the
afternoon that a mixture of rain and snow... or a change over to
all snow... is likely along and north of a Cotulla to Mathis to
Port O'Connor line. There is a slight chance light snow could mix
in with the rain across Jim Wells... San Patricio and Nueces
counties late Friday afternoon and early evening before the
precipitation ends.

Most snowfall is not expected to accumulate across the area... however
some light snow accumulations up to one inch will be possible
mainly across Live Oak... Bee... Goliad... Refugio... Victoria and
Calhoun counties as temperatures fall through the day and approach
freezing.
