Warnings and Notices

	High Wind Warning
Statement as of 4:28 AM CST on December 08, 2009 ... High Wind Warning in effect from 10 am this morning to 6 PM CST this evening... The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a High Wind Warning... which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 6 PM CST this evening. The high wind watch is no longer in effect. Damaging winds are expected to develop over much of the South Plains and extreme southern Panhandle. Southwest to westerly winds will increase to 35 to 45 mph around midday... with gusts between 65 and 75 mph possible over the western and central South Plains this afternoon. Also... these winds will likely result in areas of blowing dust which may severely restrict visibilities. Wind speeds are expected to subside around sunset. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is imminent. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property and utility damages. Area residents are urged to immediately secure outdoor objects that may be blown about by the winds... including Holiday decorations. Those planning travel across West Texas today should prepare to encounter hazardous driving conditions.
