Heat Advisory
Statement as of 2:10 PM CDT on July 11, 2009
... Heat advisory now in effect until 7 PM CDT Monday...
The heat advisory is now in effect until 7 PM CDT Monday.
High temperatures will range from 100 to 105 degrees through
Monday for most locations across North Texas. With the
humidity... afternoon heat index values will exceed 105 degrees.
Temperatures will not cool off much at night... with overnight lows
holding in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
hot weather when the inside of vehicles can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes... despite cracking windows or
previously having used air conditioning.
Persons involved in vigorous outdoor activities are urged to take
frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Wear loose fitting and
light colored clothing. Be sure to check on persons with health
problems and the elderly... as they are the most susceptible to
heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
