Nowcast | as of 3:20 am CST on February 28, 2015

Scattered areas of light freezing rain...along with some sleet and snow will continue to affect North Texas through daybreak. Any additional snow or ice amounts will be minimal...but still will combine with the snow and slush on the roads to create treacherous travel conditions across North Texas through the morning hours. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 6 PM. Patchy freezing drizzle may also occur across central Texas through mid morning. Although amounts will only range from a trace to a few hundredths of an inch...it will be enough to cause very slippery and hazardous driving conditions...especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses Temperatures across much of the area will remain well below freezing and mostly in the 20s through late morning. Travel will be very hazardous throughout the morning Saturday across much of the region. We strongly discourage travel unless you absolutely have to be out on the roads and highways.

Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 3:33 AM CST on February 28, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this
evening...

* location... this statement is for areas along and northwest of
a line from Goldthwaite to Hillsboro to Canton.

* Timing... through Saturday afternoon.

* Precipitation type... freezing drizzle.

* Accumulation... less than a tenth of an inch of ice.

* Main impact... a thin layer of ice on top of prior snowfall will
make for hazardous travel. Temperatures will be cold enough for
additional accumulations on all roads... bridges... and
overpasses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of winter
precipitation will cause travel difficulties so travel is
discouraged. Be prepared for slippery roads and plan on some
travel delays.
