Nowcast | as of 11:52 am CDT on May 25, 2015

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to move towards the northeast at around 35 to 40 mph. The main hazards with this line of thunderstorms will be damaging straight line winds...and perhaps quarter sized hail. Heavy rain and a brief tornado will also be possible. Additional showers and thunderstorms will also develop ahead of the main line along the Highway 281 corridor. Otherwise...expect mostly to partly cloudy skies across much of north and central Texas. Temperatures will climb into the mid 70s and low 80s. Additional thunderstorm development will be possible through the afternoon hours. These thunderstorms will likely become severe and will be capable of producing large hail...destructive winds and a few tornadoes. Heavy rain will also likely result in flash flooding.

Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:47 PM CDT on May 25, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM CDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* all of north and central Texas.

* Until 9 PM CDT this evening

* as an upper level disturbance tracks across the region... severe
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will occur. The soil is
already saturated... so any additional heavy rainfall will cause
flash flooding.

* Average rainfall of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts
is expected over North Texas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain which may lead to flash flooding. You should monitor the
latest forecasts from the National Weather Service and be
prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued for
your area.
