Late this afternoon...isolated showers and a few thunderstorms were primarily ongoing along and north of a Breckenridge to Jacksboro to Bowie line. This activity was generally moving towards the northeast at around 10 to 15 mph. Elsewhere...skies were generally mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 90s to near 101 degrees. Heat index values were as high as 102 in some locations. Southerly gusty winds of 15 to 25 mph were also common across north and central Texas. Through early evening...isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue...primarily across Young...Jack..wise...and Montague counties. The main hazards with the stronger thunderstorms will be gusty winds...cloud to ground lightning...and brief periods of heavy rain. Showers and thunderstorms should gradually decrease in areal coverage after sunset. Otherwise...skies should remain mostly sunny...with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. Gusty winds of around 15 to 25 mph are expected to continue through the early evening before diminishing slightly towards sunset.
