Scattered showers with a few thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon...mainly along and north of the Interstate 20 corridor. A few of the stronger storms may produce small hail and brief periods of heavy rain. This activity should continue to lift northward at around 15 to 20 mph. Otherwise...skies should remain mostly cloudy across most of the region this afternoon...with the exception being across areas along and south of a Van to Corsicana to Mexia line.

Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 12:56 PM CDT on May 22, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through
Sunday evening...

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include all of north central Texas.

* From Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening

* widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to occur
across north central Texas this weekend. The heavy rain will
develop and affect the western portions of the area Saturday
afternoon... with the activity gradually spreading eastward
Saturday night and into Sunday. The soil is already
saturated... so any additional heavy rainfall will cause flash
flooding.

* Widespread rainfall of 1 to 3 inches are expected across all of
north central Texas. Higher amounts of 2 to 4 inches are
expected in the areas mainly north and west of the dfw metroplex
where localized amounts of up to 6 inches are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain which may lead to flash flooding. You should monitor the
latest forecasts from the National Weather Service and be
prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued for
your area.
